Menghitung Hari. An all-time fav malay song by Kris Dayanti that brings back fond schooldays memories even for non-Malays Malaysians born in the 80s. We went through the same system. Studied every subject in Malay except for English. Yes even awful Additional Mathematics. Some, like me took up Islamic History and have awesome friends from diverse roots/backgrounds. Ate keropok lekor and nasi ayam from the same canteen. Vain girls like me love donning the baju kurung uniform on Fridays. We played kompang and sang more than 1 language songs together in state choir competitions. What’s so different about us? We have families. We are daughters, wives and the luckier ones, mothers. Let’s not tolerate immature dirty race-based politics that’s breaking our bond! We will rebuild Malaysia together.
